India ranks at a dismal 145th in quality and accessibility of health services globally where as many as one-third of the deaths are preventable with timely communication about and availability of medication. Lack of medicinal access causes misery and suffering, from the unbearable pain of a child's earache to women who die because of bleeding during childbirth, to deaths from diseases that are easily and inexpensively prevented or cured. Lack of access to medicines is another form of inequality. 700 million out of 2 Billion people who lack medicinal care and access live in India.
